The GMB Letters

We publish today all the lettters from the GMB union about the Unite leadership's attempts to de-recognise the GMB for Unite emplotyees.

4th August, click here
"I am writing to make clear that any attempt to derecognise the GMB will be fiercely resisted by this Union and our members working for Unite. We believe that the [proposals are a direct attack on the GMB and we will not take part in any ballot or give any credibility to proposals which are a blatant attempt to derecognise the GMB."

"The GMB is not going to take part in a beauty contest with a staff association over representation rights.  This goes against core trade union principles and our members are rightly outraged that you are proposing such a contest."

  1. i think unite members should have a vote of no confidence against ,gs, woodley and ray fletcher now

  2. unite are the only union that wants its employees to work in a closed shop,,,you cannot make it up

    ReplyDelete
  3. Throughout this whole de recognition debate, Unite management have attempted to “muddy” the waters. Thanks www.dearunite for posting these letters , which clearly show Unites true intensions. Our leadership should hang their heads in shame!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I agree, the issue here is VERY simple . Unites attempt to de-recognise the GMB and its existing bargaining group agreement .

Fletcher, McCluckey, Woodley and co. have to explain themselves !

    ReplyDelete
  5. As usual the hierarchy have the ostrich syndrome. They just bury their heads in the sand and wait till it all blows over.

    Shame on you all.

We should have a vote of no confidence and show the hierarchy that their dictatorship will not be allowed to carry on

    ReplyDelete
  6. lets not talk about it lets do something about it,,,unite and gmb members and employees who are not happy should protest outside unite offices in the uk,i am up for it,,get the turnips out of power

    ReplyDelete
  7. Comrades,
I think organising for a vote of "no confidence" would be a good start – can we ALL get this raised with Gary Carter ?

    ReplyDelete
  8. i think mc cluskey has been smoking not just the cigars in cuba ,having a nice holiday with all his family on union members money .they are not fit to run a union, hang your heads in shame

    ReplyDelete
  9. I agree with the sentiments, but can I ask you to clear one thing up. The letter refers to “Unites attempt”. This is not Unites attempt. I am a Unite member, but this shower doesn't speak for or represent me, and I do not support their stance on this issue. So can you in future refer to them as Unite Senior Management team or specifically name them and their job titles? I know the words management and team is alien to them, but this is nothing to do with Unite members, staff, reps or officers who are in the main Unite

    ReplyDelete
  10. mc cluskey wants all of the uk to strike,,,,why dont unites employees and members go on strike till woodley ,gs,and tosser ray fletcher leave before they bring down the union

    ReplyDelete
  11. there is a nodding dog culture within unite ,because if your face dont fit you are out,,,seen it loads over the years working for them ,its terrible how they treat there own staff

    ReplyDelete
  12. comrades, lets get these scum corrupt leaders out by vote of no confidence now,,lets stick together and do it,,,lets round them up,,put then in a field,,and bomb the bastards,,,these are my opinions and my true beliefs

  13. Comrade ,

Whilst I understand your frustration concerning the role of our leadership – I hardly think your approach is practical . In fact, such comments can quite easily play into the hands of the bureaucracy.

We must understand , that we have not yet exposed the true nature of our leadership, to vast majority of the Rank & File membership . This will take time!

However, as suggested in previous emails ( see above) I feel Unite employees ( GMB members) should contact their GMB representatives and discuss next course of action. This will get the ball rolling .

Under no circumstances can we allow this Unite management to de recognise the GMB – our chosen union .

    In Solidarity

    RS

  14. the true nature of our leaders will be clear to all union members and employees soon ,as in the next few weeks its going to be all over the media, there is a big case coming up

    ReplyDelete
  15. You all seem to miss the point about this derecognition. It isn't about the GMB. It is about Amicus.

The former TGWU had a staff association and its leadership was close to Mcluskey and Woodley, one of its officers was based in the Liverpool office. Amicus had an independent union for the staff, the GMB, with some of them represented by an old EETPU branch called EESSA.

By derecognising the GMB, the TGWU leadership will force former Amicus staff to bolt themselves on to the side of the existing TGWU staff association. Its leaders will continue in office and will do little to protect or support ex-Amicus staff as their pay is cut, their conditions cut and they are moved to positions of lower responsibility, which is what is happening to all former Amicus employees with the odd exception.

This is not a political move it is all about tribalism. Everything has been about tribalism right from the start for the TGWU in this rotten merger, the sooner you Amicus people wake up and see this the better.

    ReplyDelete
  16. it will never happen anyway,,fletcher and his wham boys have just shown there true colour,,lets be rid of these oaps now,and give them a one way ticket to cuba

    ReplyDelete
  17. As one of the previous contributors mentioned , UNITE management will “always try to MUDDY the waters” .

The statement above by Josephine Public is a perfect example of this . UNITE management and their stooges repeatedly give the example of the “former TGWU staff association” as an excuse to derecognise the GMB.

Let’s make it very clear . There are many GMB members ( Unite employees) who work as Staff, Officers and the Organisers . THIS IS NOT JUST AN EX-AMICUS ISSUE !

McCluskey and Woodley want to tighten their control over our union . Already , if your face don’t fit – you don’t last long .

If there’s ANYBODY out there who doubts this , ask Fletcher or McCluskey to provide details on the amount of grievances and disciplinaries which have been conducted ( Unite employees) over the last five years. You also might want to check how many Organisers have been “let go” over this period . I think the figures will shock you!!!!

  21. Josephine public is right. It is about attacking Amicus. Attacking its people, their terms, conditions and their workplaces. They have done Hayes Court and you watch the next thing they will do is sell Esher Place

    ReplyDelete
  22. comrades,,,lets ask for an expences report on the fat cats,mc cluskey ,woodley, and ray fletcher, like they did with the corrupt mps

  24. Ex Bayliss right wing and ex amicus cc. Unite and fight together both feeding from the same trough. You lot sound pathetic and desparate!!Look forward to your "revelations"!

    ReplyDelete
  25. OOo, touched a nerve have we....It doesn't matter what group, faction or former section you come from, any of them would be able to see what it is happening here. If “they” are coming together, and I say if they are, what does it say about this leadership when it can piss off so many diverse groups? Our union is full of talented and different people, and so what if they have different views to each other? That's what makes a union, what doesn't make a union is dictators, bullies and a "consultant" on 20k a year after taking a package. Now that's what I call feeding from a trough. Desperate no, I think its quite exciting as I can see a movement growing, so beware those that are close to the Mafia bullying others, what goes around comes around.

    ReplyDelete
  26. THE REVELATIONS,will be in the media soon, fletcher has been a bad bad boy and will answer for his crimes ,or another pay off coming up,lol,,,i am going to blow the unite wham boys to the masses to the public been a officer for 26 years and had enough of the mafia corrupt ways, got proof that will make ledgends

    ReplyDelete
  27. i have so much to tell the media,,been to loads of units leaving doos,,,no expence spared,,,hang your heads in shame ,,not just mc cluskey ,woodleyb, ray fletcher especially ,but alot of unites officers jumping on the club tropicana freebee mafia,,,i am going to set up a company to end all your corruption, and going to set up a just union ,named fleetwood uk

    ReplyDelete
  28. yes comrades ,lets end all the freebee culture on members hard earnt contributions, all the waste of employees and officers and bosses should not be tollerated no more

    ReplyDelete
  29. comrades, how can we look our members in the face now,its time to make a stand against the mis goings on of unite

    ReplyDelete
  30. Just seen Harry Hill on TV he shouted...

”Len McCluskey and the public sector strike being the number 1 priority or the other general secretary Tony Woodley and his very expensive organising demands coming first...?
    Who will win..."

    All together now FIGHT......!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anon@9.10. No nerve touched. Just heard it all before. Imaginary revelations cooked up with imaginary friends. a load of rubbish. You just hate it because your man lost and you cant now set up a EETPU mark 2 to protect your own privileges!! Altogether now, aahhhhh, shame!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. To be clear Amicus was a very different union to the EEPTU the former T G was much more close to the EPPTU in its style of bully boys style of management and job for the boys

    ReplyDelete
  33. How sad. Deflection, deflection deflection...This is not about what man or woman that lost in an election. This is not about EETPU, AEU, GPMU, UNIFI, MSF OR TGWU. This is about now. Its about a senior management team in Unite, including the chair of the EC who must know about what's going on, who are trying to de-recognise a bargaining group for the purpose of eroding terms and conditions. All this against a backdrop of an ex GS who goes out with 500k and another taking a package whilst the senior management team find the money to employ that same person as a consultant. I don't care about revelations, I assume that any will be defended when leaked and if not, those accused will, as usual,“move on” or those accusing will face a legal challenge or suspension. Finally, see the letters above...they aren't imaginary.

    ReplyDelete
  34. comrades, hear hear with above, how many members are they losing to gmb,its backfired so ray fletcher will be paid off at 68 with a golden electric scooter for all his good work for the union,,it makes me sick

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anon 6.45

Your crystal ball must be working well. Ray Fletcher is to step down as departmental Director at the end of March 2012. Step down to what and with what? Let's see...

    ReplyDelete
  36. yes comrades he might be stepping down, but i am going to shame him in the media before that

    ReplyDelete
  37. he will want his freebee holiday to cuba at exmas will the champagne socialists before he takes the golden zimmer frame first, and lavish leaving doos to pat him on the back

    ReplyDelete
  38. Still waiting for these 'revelations' and 'nameing and shaming'. Will it be happening sometime soon only I am fed up of waiting?

    ReplyDelete
  39. very soon comrade,,calm down

    ReplyDelete
  40. Im very, very calm and relaxed comrade. I just dont want us all to die or evolve while you lot make up pretend allegations.

    ReplyDelete
  41. if you had any brains you would know we have to try for a compromise agreement before we resort to going to the media, pretend allegations you tosser if you anything of working or the goings on at unite you would know there is nothing pretend going on,its run on mafia guidelines

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah, yeah, yeah.....heard it all before.....

    ReplyDelete
  43. thats the difference,,,you have heard it all before,,,and we have seen it all before

    ReplyDelete
  44. .....and you do F all about it!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. the other year 2 ladies who worked for unite for over 13 years but where put on when 65 as temp workers fulltime under manpower where told there services where not needed anymore for no reason and where replaced the next day by 2 ex british airways staff ,,,thats how unite works if you work for unite you have no rights at all and keep your head down for fear of being the next to go

    ReplyDelete
  46. unite putting 7 million in strike fund for upcoming stike ,only union to do so ,what a joke

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yes anon@7.26. Really funny. How about not having a strike eh? Idiot!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. the proof is in the pudding,,,eh idiot ,watch this space

    ReplyDelete
  49. i hear that learning officers
    are next for the chop?

from what heard, its a disgrace

    ReplyDelete
  50. where does that leave members on courses and ULRs?

is it getting a service for free again, provided by lay member ULRs ??

    Little or no support

    Max

employers must be rubbing their hands?

    ReplyDelete
  51. been looking into this last few days.

hear about 60 people could be facing p45s or face big hits on there pay and T+Cs

    any more news on this?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah, its true, they are now attacking the ULO's. Its gone completely over their heads that these ULO's and the ULR's are really good organisers themselves as they build membership upon education and learning agreements. I would much rather have a learning organiser or LR increasing membership on something positive and sustainable, rather than one off conflict issues. Its sad, really sad...

    ReplyDelete
  53. The point about putting 7 million into a strike fund is a good one for two reasons. The first is that McCluskey/Fletcher are saying that there is no money and that's why they have no other choice but to erode terms and conditions. The second is what comes after the 30th? How much will "that" cost? And what other terms, conditions, jobs, and buildings will they attack/sell to fund it?

    ReplyDelete
  54. As I understand it ULR courses will still be run via Unite Education that will not change with regards on-going support this will be Self Employed staff or Contractors if you like some will be the staff that are in exsitance as of now and want Self Employement on reduced Terms and conditions and the the rest is anyones guess

If they are anything like this Fletcher Guy they will not have a trade Union bone in their body.

The members I have spoken to are saying that this Union needs to take a long hard inward look at its self.

I have met some brilliant supportive ULO's and it would be a shame if they were to leave ! our loss someone elses gain

    ReplyDelete
  55. why are unite paying 7 million strike pay, when no other union is

    ReplyDelete
  56. how the hell mc cluskey, fletcher and there solicitor pinda sleep on a night i do not know,,they are bringing the union down between them ,,its about time there dealings where put into the media, and not left behind payoffs and threats to unites employees,i am ashamed to work for unite its so corrupt

    ReplyDelete
  57. I heard Eastbourne was an Interesting meeting?

    ReplyDelete
  58. The organisation that set the scene on all this re Self employed issue is our friends in Unionlearn!!!! They had a clearout using the same process.

    ReplyDelete
  59. the union should get rid of fletcher now,and stop using ead solicitors for advise

    ReplyDelete
  60. what happened at Eastbourne?

    ReplyDelete
  61. A couple of SULO's went out for a drink came back worse for wear one decided to throw a chair it is alledged off a balcony or at a guest . I hear he was kicked out the hotel and duly suspeneded after they found him.

A cover up has now taken place and he is back at work.

Would this happen in the real world of work?

    And he is ex T&G.

    Again double standards.

Should this Union re name its self ''SHITETHEUNION''

    ReplyDelete
  62. thats bad news, but i imagine the SULOs are under a lot of pressure. Of course if he was ex Amicus, would he have got off so lightly?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Pressure, my wrinkled up ball bag

Jumped up Dustbin man should have been dumped

    wanker

    ReplyDelete
  64. half the officers i know are having affairs in works time ,or on the golf course ,,some on the other hand are hard working and honest

    ReplyDelete
  65. OMG!!!!

This is scary stuff hope no ones watching.

    newbee

    ReplyDelete
  66. the comment is about the former TG Officers in NEYH region at a guess The hull/grimsby office in interesting it will be in the public domain at some point due to ongoing legal case

    ReplyDelete
  67. the above comment is true but dont think it should be on here at this stage

    ReplyDelete
  68. if there is an ongoing legal case we should wait while it gets to court before spilling the beans,,it could effect the case

    ReplyDelete
  69. it would be unproffesional and unfair to put anything about an ongoing legal matter until it gets to court,it could affect the case .

    ReplyDelete
  70. Oh thats how you get on is it!!!

    Must be doing something wrong

    ReplyDelete
  71. Harassment I believe

    ReplyDelete
  72. Is that all , T&G MK2 do all the time and half of them have had there brains removed.

All like nodding donkeys and are so far up each others arse and stabbing each other in the back its exepted as the norm.

Bulling in a Trade Union !!! NEVER I HEAR THE CRY

    newbee

    ReplyDelete
  73. its a bit more then harassment, but not correct to comment at this time

    ReplyDelete
  74. T@G Mk 2...? There is no such thing. We have a T&G Mk 1

    ReplyDelete
  75. Golf x 3 affairs x1 sheffield

    ReplyDelete
  77. does anyone know what fletcher the TURNIP is doing after march,,is he getting a golden stairlift ,or is he still going to carry on making the union look like knobs

    ReplyDelete
  78. comrades our union could save a fortune by having its own in house legal team, and stop filling the pockets of mr pindar and his wham boys at ead solicitors,,back hander bridgade,,these are my opinions and not those of dear unite

    ReplyDelete
  79. mc cluskey,,john lennon would be ashamed of you,,you are no working class hero you are just a fat cat like the rest now,,bow your head in shame you scum

    ReplyDelete
  80. where are the united left in all this?
Would the gazzette group have said nothing about the current state off the union ?
Mayer the so called man off the left where are you
The union talks left but is a bunch off right wing self interested bastard who care nothing for the members time for a new grouping the members must take control back roll on the next GS election

    ReplyDelete
  81. hear hear, roll on next gs election

    ReplyDelete
  82. fletcher ,woodley and mc cluskey will have to watch there teeth on xmas day ,tucking into there golden turkeys ,paid for by the sweat of there members,,,ho ho ho

    ReplyDelete
  83. Its great isn't it. They can try and force the learning organisors to go self employed and yet they can find the money for other things. Can anyone confirm that Woodley may have had a two years salary pay off? And that it may have been paid AFTER he stood down so it wouldn't be shown as a payment to the GS?

    ReplyDelete
  84. why did unite pay 7 million strike pay when no other union did,,,its crazy use of members money

    ReplyDelete
  85. Eh, how can they make the Learning Organisers Self Employed? Some of them have been employed by the union for 8-10 years?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Because they operate like the mafia, and they don't give a dam. They can find 9k extra a year backdated for two years for their own organising team leaders whilst attacking former Amicus LO's. Equal treatment doesn't matter to them, come on EC, stand up and be counted on this issue!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I would like to know whats going on. How is my union attacking former Amicus LOs?

    ReplyDelete
  88. The former T/G section sub contracted all it work to their learning organizers in effect they were self employed workers saving on pension contribution ans also ensuring that they could get rid off anybody who upset the leadership
The former Amicus people Were fully employed paid pension and enjoyed the same rights as other members off staff We are a trade union and we should treat people respect so on that bases we should employee people full time

    ReplyDelete
  89. So are you saying these people have been employed by Amicus/Unite and are now being told to go onto self employed contracts? And that ex T&G are on s/e contracts? In the Amicus case they can't change contracts without the staff's consent. S/E of course makes life a lot harder!

    ReplyDelete
  90. no they were all put on full time contracts 2 years ago they are now all been made redundant and been offered some possible self employed contract

    ReplyDelete
  91. I asked before whatever happened to the united left on there web site M MAYER email address's is still got T/G martin.tgw910@talktalk.net do this group ever meet in Yorkshire or is it a secret club
or if did meet is Mayer frighted about how might turn up ? History has a strange habit off biting you on the arse
a battle may have been lost but the war still goes on

    ReplyDelete
  92. comrades, unite are worse than some of the worst employers they fight each day

    ReplyDelete
  93. All this stuff about Fletcher got me thinking. He leaves in March 2012, so who is replacing him? I found out its someone called Maria King. Now the question is "who is Maria King?" Surely its not the same Maria King that left her 100k HR post at Islington Council through mutual agreement in Feb 2010...? Hmmmmmmmmm...............

    ReplyDelete
  94. you got it in one

    ReplyDelete
  95. I can't f'ing believe it...just google Maria King Islington Council and read the reports...Out of all the HR reps out there looking for work, why pick that one? On the other hand, that's a stupid question isn't it, as people appoint in their own image. Enough said.

    ReplyDelete
  96. fletcher should have been given a lethal injection years ago,i feel sorry for his wife ,he has shamed our union

    ReplyDelete
  97. maria king was suspended from islington council after loads of senior staff resigned over her bullying and harrasment towards them in dec 09,she left feb 2010 through mutual agreement,,,you cannot make it up unite the union employing someone like that ,,is this a sign of things to come .

    ReplyDelete
  98. comrades ,no one can be worse than dip shit ,dog breath fletcher

    ReplyDelete
  99. Excuse me, but I wish to raise an objection on the behalf of the RSBMTD, Royal Society for Bull Mastiffs with Tooth Decay. I think its really disappointing that you suggest Fletcher's breath is like one of our dogs, they are certainly not that bad.

    ReplyDelete
  100. have to agree working with fletcher is bad ,his breath is like death,we nickname him death breath ,he sends us stupid email after email after email ,lol which is better than face to face

    ReplyDelete
  101. lets stop with the uncomradely, infantile & offensive name calling>

lets deal with the real issues here.
Personalise them only undermines the real arguments and can then be dismissed away.

    ReplyDelete
  102. real issues are the leadership of unite are corrupt,,FACT

    ReplyDelete
  103. lets not get into ex amicus this and that
cos look at simpson, baylis and now boyd who has swoped sides for bosses club against our members

    ReplyDelete
  104. as soon as maria king takes over in march there are some big changes for unites employees ,for the worst

    ReplyDelete
  105. The king is dead...long live the king
lets hope our EC block Kings appointment now her past is in public domain!

But people need to protest directly

lets learn from the hirsch nightmare
she cost amicus plenty of members money and unions reputation

    ReplyDelete
  106. so what is simpsom bayliss and boyd doing now ?
    i expect no response ?

    ReplyDelete
  107. maria king starts in jan working alongside fletcher till he steps down in march.

    ReplyDelete
  108. they all got a shedload of members money

boyd is now co-ordinating and working for the sparky employers against our members. he is aleading light.

baylis is probably working for the building employers?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Boyd did not get any money it news to brain that he is working for anybody Do you the real reasons look no further that the defeat at BA

Bayliss is not working at all but got the standard VR and has not worked since

Simpson got a shed load off money the same as woodley but refused a seat in the lords
Not defending anybody just the facts

    ReplyDelete
  110. Turner was partly to blame for the defeat at BA. He f'ked up TNT so we had to move him, he f'ked up BA, we had to move him. Now he is been given community members as a platform...God help us.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Turner was fully to blame he thinks he will be the next GS

    ReplyDelete
  112. how much woodley get?

simpson got extra year plus house plus £365,000
    plus seat in jacksons armchair

    ReplyDelete
  113. did davisun get a payoff or some perks for services rendered?

    ReplyDelete
  114. The house is the property off the union Simpson got the same deal as woodley got the difference wooddley took his money and continued to work so in effect he is worst in that he remains on the pay roll been paid mega buck for doing nowt.
the merger agreement said he would leave the union on his 64 birthday As for Davison ihave no idea i suggest you ask his mate woodhouse

    ReplyDelete
  115. Yep we no house shud go back to union in end but in meantime lives in it for nowt! Can all members get same rent free terms??? As for woodley, not herd that. Are u sure? It made sense for one GS.

    ReplyDelete
  116. the deal was for peppercorn rent as pert off him agreeing to move from Sheffield ask woodley about the flat ?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Wot a poor excuse!
Wonder how many workers wud get a free house if they moved. insted pleasur of commuting. Wots a peppercorn rent equate to? A quid?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Bayliss should have got sack. Slaging BA workers off, for more patsy deals and dealings with sun

    ReplyDelete
  119. its not a free house my understanding it the market rate note you forgot woodleys free flat

Bayliss should not off said anything

    ReplyDelete
  122. wonder if all our leaders are off to cuba with there familys on a freebee holiday again this xmas,,,ho ho ho

    ReplyDelete
  123. Who's gonna b next GS?
Cos dubbins fan club DFC is pulling all the punches at the minute. I hear he's never been elected, been a acountible rep or held lay office???

    ReplyDelete
  124. SD is building a fan club and power base. His daddy was a deadly operator. betta than supranos

    ReplyDelete
  125. well the number off freebies he has been on would be a very interesting read a right winger to his bones

    ReplyDelete
  126. He says he is now a radical left winger and got his own blog site unite now.

    ReplyDelete
  127. The rumour is that the next GS will come from the west midlands...

    ReplyDelete
  128. A right winger?
    Go flick a coin
