A Full Time Officer Wrote

A short-lived web site, apparently set up by a Unite full time officer, appeared last month with great promise.  However it disapeared shortly after 11th May.  It seems discipline is tight.   Fortunately we have saved an exact copy here, for ever. If the owner would like to retrieve it please contact dearunite.com.

  1. Absolute bollocks. Mind you the advice given about organising he should give to Hicks considering he only discovered organising last July.

  2. Dave. Prove that this site is real. Anyone can set up a mythical blog.

  3. Hi Dave

take no notice of the personal comments. What is interesting is that the above seem to miss the point. That being, the content of the "officer's" post and the fact that freedom to speak out has been curtailed. To get around this you may want to open an officers, organisors, staff page so at least they can add comments without being hunted down, subject to the obvious disclaimer!

  4. Anon. That situation has to exist and be a reality before you make such ridiculous claims!!

  5. I don't blame him for deleting negative personal comments, who wouldn't! Why don't you discuss the recent BA settlement, including the areas that started the dispute in the first place, you know, the ones that still remain to this day...

  6. I've opened a folder on my PC for the personal stuff it is quite amusing in a sort of sad way. Remarkably similar to some of the postings on the UL group.

I will continue to delete it and unfortunately any posts that reference and quote the personal bits.

It's no problem to me, only a mouse click, so keep it up.

  7. I always find amusement in the hysterical rants of Unite’s right-wing ‘United Left’ (sic) when the Stalinist practices of the union hierarchy are revealed. Keep up the reporting Dave.

  8. The person who questions the authenticity of the deleted blog site must be an idiot. If the person who wrote the details of the organising meeting is not real then how did they access the meeting information?

I am totally opposed to the right wing in our union but I am also opposed to the so called 'left wing' (not really left) , individualist (rather than collective) , me,me,me, Grass Roots Left that pose as an alternative in the union. You have no credibility whatsoever and cannot be trusted in any struggle against the Bureaucracy.

  10. When have the 'United Left' ever struggled against the bureaucracy? It has recently acted as a machine for replacing a “broad left gone bad” (i.e. the Gazette group), with a “good broad left”. An understanding of the history of broad left groupings in both the T&G and the constituents of what was Amicus is key to realising the true nature of how such groupings put in place and support a new level of “good” or “Left” bureaucracies.

The union is firmly led and controlled by its full-time bureaucracy under the direction of the General Secretary, and supported by the United Left. Any change within the union needs to come from the rank and file, and will have to involve a thorough democratisation of the union, in particular the election and regular re-election of all full-time officials.

  11. It looks like the UL have now set their sights on 3 EC members for pointing out the truth about the BA settlement see their site. Fact, Turner started it and then went missing, Woodley couldn't finish it, and McCluskey rescued what was left of it, now Mayer is trying to gloss it.

  12. And the witch-hunt commences………

  13. Anon 9.38. Don't forget McCluskey's "Neville Chamberlain" moment i.e. waving a piece of paper with the ballot result on it. According to yesterdays Guardian BA's "decision to cut staffing levels on long-haul flights, which triggered the dispute in 2009, has not been reversed. BA is also creating a separate fleet of crew on different pay and conditions" which Turner, McCluskey, and Woodley had all initially opposed.

  14. Good luck for the 10th/11th Aug.

  15. The United Left is a sham. It was set up to ensure the support of the 'left' officers and leading activists of Amicus for McCluskey. Once that had been accomplished, in London at least, it met one more time (Amicus people having beeing conveniently left of the invitation list) where it nominated a 100% T&G slate for the recent NEC elections.

I stopped writing the UniteFTO blog because I knew that I couldn't keep my identitly secret and I have no desire to be singled out and go the way of Jimmy Warne, Cathy Phillips and, more recently, Brian Harris. Not to worry, I have some other subversive plans afoot
